"Kel"
August 28, 1999 - October 31, 2008
Kel, aka "The Kelman" was my sweet boy.
He was a macho guy but didn't have to go around trying to prove he was
top dog. However if his status was questioned he quickly showed that he
wouldn't put up with any posturing. He always had to have a stuffie, if
we were going anywhere albeit another room or out the door the first
thing he would do was to grab a stuffie as if to say "Okay, I'm ready
to go now". I sorely miss my little big man. He was my first champion
and finished quickly once he reached Open Blue. His first points were
earned at a St Patricks Day show and he earned his championship at the
following Mother's Day show. All of his wins were majors and all but
one were best of winners as well. He was on the smaller side of the
breed standard but definitely within the standard and I once overheard
an individual ask a judge why Kel was given the win since there were so
many larger quality dogs in the ring that day. The judge said "Have you
ever put your hands on that dog? If you did you would know why."
